Lake County CC 360 January Edition

Columbia College-Lake County students awarded Lake County Honors Scholarship

Congrats to our Gurnee Branch Manager, Betty, who was awarded a $800 scholarship towards her bachelor's degree in business administration from Columbia College - Lake County. Betty was a recipient for performing a high degree of academic excellence.

Columbia College-Lake County students Cher-Ami Fabian (Waukegan, Illinois), Elizabeth Fallos (Wadsworth, Illinois) and Kelli Green (Kenosha, Wisconsin) were recently awarded the Lake County Honors Scholarship. Each student was awarded $800 to use toward tuition, books and fees for the January session.

The three winners demonstrated a high degree of academic excellence. Fabian and Fallos are pursuing bachelor’s degrees in business administration, and Green is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in general studies.

Fabian prefers in-seat courses over online courses, but her work schedule limits the in-seat courses she can take. She gave high praise to Steve Cooper, her algebra instructor.

“He is truly gifted with patience,” she said.

She also complimented Business Instructor Walter Adams for the work experience he shared in her Management 330: Principles of Management course. Her goal after degree completion is finding a position with a company that provides growth and development opportunities.

Fallos is a highly successful online student. She takes pride in her education and passed that enthusiasm onto her children. All three of her daughters have graduated from college.

“Now, it’s mom’s turn to earn a college degree!” she said.

Green is proud of her academic accomplishments as well. She enrolls in a combination of in-seat and online courses. Green praised two Lake County instructors, Gus Stieber (psychology) and Linda Thorne (history). She admires Thorne’s passion for history, and her enthusiasm for sharing that passion with students.

To be eligible for the Lake County Honors scholarship, a student must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at Columbia College-Lake County, have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours at Columbia College and hold a grade point average of 3.75 or higher.

Congratulations to these impressive students
