Community Trust Supports "Santas for Seniors"
Members of Popular Lake County Financial Institution Collect Gifts To Be Distributed By Home Instead Senior Care
(Gurnee, IL December 11, 2007) There's an old adage that "the best gift for the holidays are the one you give to others." With this mind, the folks at Community Trust Credit Union (with branches in Gurnee and Grayslake) asked their members, staff and neighbors to "Be A Santa To A Senior" this holiday.
The popular Gurnee-based credit union invited everyone to stop by one of their branches in Gurnee or Grayslake to select an ornament listing a senior's wish... and then bring back an unwrapped gift to help make that dream come true this holiday season.
"It's a small thing to do that means so much for seniors who live alone at home... and otherwise may not get many or any gifts during the holidays," said CTCU's President/CEO Madeline Lipka, who welcomed Home Instead Senior Care to set up their "Be A Santa To A Senior" display in the credit union's lobbies.
Home Instead volunteers picked up two truckloads of gifts on Dec. 10, so Boy Scouts from Troop 77 could wrap them in time to be re-distributed to individual seniors by Christmas day.
