Community Trust Credit Union Holiday Raffle Raises $500 for Avon Food Pantry.

(Gurnee, IL December 13, 2007) When the employees of Community Trust Credit Union got together for their holiday party on December 8th, they used the opportunity to conduct a split-the-pot fundraiser that raised $500 for Avon Food Pantry in Round Lake Park.

"We thought it would be a great way to get people into the holiday spirit and raise money to support the vital work done by Avon Food Pantry," said Nikki Grover, who was recently named Branch Manager of CTCU's new Lake Villa branch office, which is set to opening in Q2 2008.

"Thanks to everyone's generosity, the Avon Food Pantry will be able to provide for more families throughout the holiday season," added Community Trust's CEO Madeline Lipka.

According to Pantry Supervisor Shirley Christensen, in 2007 The Avon Township Food Pantry, located at 433 E. Washington Avenue in Round Lake Park, served more than 15,000 individuals, including nearly 4200 families (many with small children). "The need is expected to be even greater this year," said Christensen, "Donations of packaged foods, grocery gift certificates and cash help us provide emergency assistance to neighbors experiencing temporary setbacks or unexpected hardships. So thank you on their behalf!"

Those interested in making a monetary donation may drop off a check payable to the Avon Township Food Pantry at Community Trust Credit Union's main branch at 1313 Skokie Highway in Gurnee.
